Monday, November 24th from 7pm to 8pm

Join health & fitness expert, Rebecca Scritchfield, for a Nutritional Survival Guide that will show you how to enjoy the holidays healthfully!

After this workshop, you will:

* Understand how stress, sleep, and hormones can affect your appetite, food choices, and health behaviors.

* Learn how you can realistically enjoy the food at every party and get the benefits of the healthiest fare (some may surprise you!)

* Know what to do in order to stick to your usual habits so you don't end up with a long list of resolutions in January.

All attendees will sample healthful snacks, receive nutrition handouts, and get a 10% savings card for a 1-week nutrition assessment - a $30 value.

Advanced Registration Required as Space is Limited!  Fee is $20.  Contact Rebecca to register:  (202) 375-8942 or email to rscritchfield@gmail.com

Self-Defense

In this 6-week intro course, we will cover the most important things you need to know for street self-defense.  You will learn defenses against real world situations, including escape and evade tactics, nerve strikes, joint locks, defending yourself on the ground, and lastly, defending against a knife, stick, or gun.

Tuesdays 5:30pm to 6:30pm
(November 18th through December 23rd)

Kick Boxing

This course combines the best elements of Muay Thai, Karate, Filipino Kick Boxing, and Western Boxing into one action-packed workout!  The first 20 minutes will consist of stretching and total body conditioning.  The next 30 minutes will cover street effective moves, including elbows, knees, kicks, and punch combinations.  During the remaining 10 minutes, we will work on more exotic moves that will test your balance and coordination.

Tuesdays 6:30pm to 7:30pm

Instructor:  Ed Mengel  ed@arnisdc.com

Arnis

Arnis is one of the most street effective martial arts around today.  Our primary principle is that one technique can be used against the stick, knife, or empty hand.  This way, you don't have to train three times as much or learn three times as many moves to protect yourself.  Arnis combines devastating elbows and knees, joint locks, and fast combinations.  Similar to chess, you will learn to think two moves ahead of your opponent, so you can trap him with his own arms or weapons.

Tuesdays 7:30pm to 8:30pm

Instructor:
Ed Mengel  ed@arnisdc.com

Tai Chi

Tai Chi is regarded as the highest Martial Art. It is known not only for its relaxation and health benefits, but also as an effective and powerful form of self-defense. Wu style, Tai Chi push hands and Tai Chi weapons are taught by Frank Neely.

Thursdays from 7pm to 8pm
